FRACTAL SCREENSAVERS BY 13&9 DESIGN IN COLLABORATION WITH FRACTALS RESEARCH FOR MOHAWK GROUP

As a humanitarian response to the pandemic, the ScienceDesignLab (SDL) led by Prof. Richard Taylor (University of Oregon / Fractals Research), Anastasija and Martin Lesjak adapted their RELAXING FLOORS, based on fractal patterns which have been scientifically proven to reduce stress and provide benefits to physical health, into screensavers for Mohawk Group. The goal is to trigger subconscious relaxation mechanisms by displaying patterns known as fractals on a range of devices that people use when working – either remotely or in a workplace setting. Dr. Richard Taylor elaborates: “One of the best pieces of news from our psychology research is that you do not need to be exposed to fractal patterns long to get the positive effect and these patterns might help reduce your level of stress by up to 60 percent.“
The screensavers were released together with Mohawk Group’s blog article “How the Science of Fractal Design Became Relaxing Screensavers” and can be downloaded for free.
