Sound Installation for Neuroth – WALK OF LIFE

For the new “Neuroth – HörErlebniswelt”, located in the European supply center of the Austrian market leader for audiology in Lebring, Austria, Severin Su and Martin Lesjak created a sound design for diverse interactive audible experiences, making the world of hearing come alive for visitors. The approach to the sound is based on the human lifecycle, spanning from birth to old age through significant auditive experiences, emphasizing how precisely the ear can distinguish between different audible perceptions. The sound installation, focusing only on the aural sense, exemplifies how hearing is not only the detection of information and speech, but how it is also responsible for orientation and the awareness of spatial dimensions. As part of this “walk of life”, the protagonist experiences age-defined auditory perceptions up until the point of complete hearing loss. Subsequently, a demonstration of how to regain hearing with the support of Neuroth is demonstrated, culminating in an emotional, musical experience, illustrating the universals of music cognition in a specially composed piece of music, the symphony of life.
