SHEDDA FRACTAL FOR WEVER & DUCRÉ

“We turned fractal science into a tool for design.” – Anastasija Lesjak and Martin Lesjak, 13&9 Design.

Our mission is to create biophilic design applications that merge scientific research with artistic expression. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Richard Taylor from Fractals Research, a pioneer in fractal research, we developed a design tool that translates the proven benefits of fractal patterns into tangible design solutions based in decades of research.

Over millions of years, our eyes have evolved with the structures of nature. That is why fractal patterns, like those found in trees, rivers, mountains, and clouds, lie within our “visual comfort zone.” Scientific studies show that being surrounded by the right quality of fractals reduces stress, improves cognitive performance, and boosts well-being, much like a walk through the forest.

With SHEDDA fractal for Wever & Ducré, we transformed this science into design: a mosaic of light and shadow that feels intuitive, grounding, and restorative – translating the health-promoting effects of nature indoors, suspended elegantly from and reflected on the ceiling.
