SCIENCE DESIGN LAB PRESENTATION AT NEOCON 2025

Building on our scientific publications on biophilic design, including in the journal Frontiers in Psychology and a book chapter in Fractal Geometry of the Brain (published by leading scientific publisher Springer Nature), our ScienceDesignLab will give one of the featured presentations at NeoCon in Chicago, June 9 –11, 2025. Discussing the topic “Integrating Fractal-Based Design for Stress Reduction,” the presentation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. NeoCon Presentation Studio by ScienceDesignLab’s co-founders Prof. Dr. Richard Taylor (University of Oregon / Fractals Research), and Dr. med. univ. Anastasija Lesjak as well as architect Martin Lesjak (13&9 Design and INNOCAD architecture).

The presentation will focus on scientific findings showing that fractal patterns with a specific visual complexity (characterized by mid D-Values) generate an aesthetic experience accompanied by a reduction in the observer’s physiological stress levels. Prof. Taylor explains, “My twenty-five years of experiments have led to the ‘fractal fluency’ model, which declares that human vision has become fluent in the visual language of nature’s fractals and can process their features efficiently, creating an aesthetic experience accompanied by a decrease in the observer’s physiological stress-levels.”
