SCIENCE DESIGN LAB PRESENTATION AT NEOCON 2025
Our presentation at NeoCon 2025 in Chicago has been requested by many of our colleagues who are interested in learning more about how fractal-based design – featuring intricate, repeating patterns found in nature – promote relaxation and well-being. Our partners at NeoCon have uploaded our session on YouTube.
In this talk, Dr. Anastasija Lesjak introduced multisensory architecture and biophilic design that positively impact people’s well-being, as well as the effects of stress on our individual and social health. Professor Taylor explained the science behind fractal fluency and referred to studies showing how fractals contribute to stress reduction and induce positive effects across all age groups. In the final section of the presentation, architect and designer Martin Lesjak showcased a wide range of projects in architecture, interior, and product design that implement fractal patterns in the built environment.
We would like to thank NeoCon and Momentum Textiles and Wallcovering, as well as all the guests and colleagues who joined the session. Special thanks to our teams at the University of Oregon and the University of New South Wales, as well as our team in Graz.
