PANEL AT NYCxDESIGN ON 13&9’S NEW, SCIENCE-BASED DESIGN, HOSTED BY METROPOLIS MAGAZINE AND MOHAWK GROUP

During NYCxDESIGN, a panel event moderated by Metropolis Magazine’s Avinash Rajagopal will take place, in which experts of science, design, and manufacturing will share breakthroughs built on decades of research, offering holistic design thinking that seeks to bring nature’s calming effects to our built environments.

Based on their transdisciplinary approach to design, Anastasija and Martin Lesjak of 13&9 worked closely with Dr. Richard Taylor, professor of physics, psychology and art at the University of Oregon and founder of Fractals Research, to create the next generation of flooring solutions with Mohawk Group.

The outcome of this intensive, 2-year-long international project between designers, scientists and makers is a new design process and mega flooring collection combining art, science, and human-centered design and building on scientific research on the stress-reductive qualities of fractal patterns.

Together with Metropolis Magazine and Mohawk Group, the creators of Relaxing Floors invite you to join their talk about design strategies that help to navigate the challenges of digitalization and urbanization in an aim to holistically benefit people and their surroundings. In this unique collaboration, 13&9’s creative thinking merged with Taylor’s scientific methodology, resulting in flooring that goes beyond the decorative surface. Join us on Sunday, May 19th from 3pm – 6pm at Mohawk Group NYC Showroom 125 W 25th St. / 6th Floor.
