PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT AT EXHIBITION BY HDA GRAZ
We are honored that the PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT at the Regional Hospital Southwest Styria, site Deutschlandsberg by INNOCAD architecture, is featured in the exhibition “The Prize Bag: Double Lives of Architecture,” on Febraury 25th 2026, developed in the context of the Architecture Award of the State of Styria 2025.
Curated by Sevince Bayrak and Oral Göktaş of SO? architecture and ideas, the exhibition proposes a different understanding of architectural awards – not as final judgments, but as tools for engaging with the culture of the built environment.
Based on visits to the 14 nominated projects across Styria, “Double Lives of Architecture” looks beyond polished images. It explores what unfolds between drawing and construction, between intention and crisis, and between completion and everyday use.
The PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT is presented within this framework as part of a broader reflection on what architecture holds beyond its image. The exhibition highlights how buildings emerge through collaboration, constraints, and continuous adaptation. Rather than presenting architecture as a finished object, it emphasizes the processes behind it and the realities that shape it over time.
“The Prize Bag” keeps the discourse open. It invites visitors to look closer – at the invisible processes, negotiations, and human realities that define the lived experience of space.
