INTERIORES MINIMALISTAS: Reforma de un apartamento histórico en Graz / INNOCAD architecture
Interiores Minimalistas, the Spanish publication dedicated to architecture, interior and contemporary design, has featured INNOCAD architecture's latest residential project: the redesign of an apartment in Graz that is part of a heritage-listed municipal housing ensemble built between 1929 and 1931 in the spirit of Neue Sachlichkeit.
One of the center contemporary building elements in this historic apartment is a multifunctional box that sits like a tree trunk in the middle of the apartment – it houses the bathroom and organizes the space around it, from the entrance with a wardrobe to the kitchen and dining area. Clad in our Fractal Bark wallcovering from the Renaturation Collection, developed in collaboration with Fractals Research for Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering, its outer walls stand in contrast to the herringbone flooring.
Inspired by the vertical calm of a forest, Fractal Bark translates the texture of tree trunks into a layered pattern that reads as a subtle vertical stripe from a distance and reveals complexity up close. Rooted in research and named for the return of nature into built environments, the collection brings this idea into a private home within a dense urban context, shaping the apartment through atmosphere.
