FRACTAL PROJECTS AND PRODUCTS FEATURED IN INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE
Thank you, Interior Design Magazine, for featuring our fractal design-based projects and products in your online and print editions. The article highlights our most recent work, including the Renaturation Collection, our first wallcovering portfolio, which debuted at NeoCon 2025 for Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering, as well as flooring collections for Mohawk Group – Fractal Findings and ConnectD, the first LVT tiles with fractal pattern.
Additionally, the FRACTAL CHAPEL at the University Hospital in Graz – recently honored with the prestigious “Best of Competition” award at the 51st Annual Interior Design Competition by IIDA – is also featured.
Anastasija Lesjak reflects on 13&9’s collaboration with Prof. Richard Taylor on fractal-based design, which builds on 25 years of his research: “Our visual and other senses are thirsty for these algorithmic patterns, but Richard found that it doesn’t matter whether we perceive them in nature or in graphical form – our brains are wired to search for them, and we still respond, even with only brief exposure. We have what he calls ‘fractal fluency.’
There are complex fractals, like dense forests, and simpler ones, like clouds. The degree of complexity is measured by a mathematical parameter called the D value. From a neuropsychological perspective, mid-D-value fractals are considered ideal. These are prevalent in nature and have a calming, yet simultaneously engaging and energizing effect on us.”
