FRACTAL FLUENCY AND CALM AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
Interior Design magazine published an article about the integration of two of our fractal collaborations at The Ohio State University’s (OSU) Entrepreneur Center, underlining the impact of fractal-based design in the built environment and highlighting our partnership with Prof. Richard Taylor.
Over two months, the team led by Rebekah Matheny, Associate Professor in the Department of Design at OSU, developed design strategies based on students’ preferences for pixelated, tech-style patterns, biophilic materials, and a soft, warm, neutral color palette. These insights informed every aspect of the center’s design, which opened its doors earlier this year. The space reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of its users while aligning with OSU’s broader commitment to innovation and fostering a sense of belonging across campus.
Moving forward, Prof. Matheny and her team will measure the success of the Ohio State Student Entrepreneurs’ Center by observing and interviewing end users. She shares: “The objective is to measure the impact of fractals and biophilic design on users, so that other students can benefit from designers implementing these elements in learning spaces.”
It is very exciting for us to see our designs implemented for Mohawk Group’s Fractal Fluency as well as FACT Design’s CALM Collection in educational spaces, with the goal of supporting student well-being. We want to congratulate Prof. Matheny and her team on this impactful project.
