FINALIST AT THE 2026 NYCxDESIGN AWARDS

The Renaturation Collection for Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering by 13&9 Design in collaboration with Fractals Research for has been selected as a finalist at the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Awards in New York. Presented by Interior Design magazine, the award celebrates collaborations, ideas, and projects that shape contemporary design culture.

The idea of bringing nature back into the built environment emerged from everyday observations, like a stone wall near the 13&9 studio in Graz slowly being reclaimed by moss. Since walls are among the most present surfaces in our spaces, wallcovering has become an optimum canvas to translate the restorative qualities of biophilic design into interior spaces. Inspired by rivers, forests and moss, Renaturation reconnects interiors with the calming benefits of fractal-based design.

Before the launch of the collection at NeoCon 2025 in Chicago, the project evolved through an ongoing exchange between fractal science, design, product development, and color research. In this interdisciplinary constellation, Renaturation became an exploration of how artistic expression and scientific findings can merge into a dialogue that supports health and well-being in the built environment.

One year after launch, seeing collaboration as an internationally acknowledged work with its first realized implementations and recognition as a finalist at the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Awards, feels like a special shared moment for all of us.
