CALM COLLECTION AT HEALTHIER HERE

We are excited to see our CALM’s collections Branches acoustic ceiling tiles, developed together with Prof. Richard Taylor from Fractals Research for FACT Design, which create acoustic landscapes for wall and ceiling with fractal patterns in the new Healthier Here space by JPC Architects.

Healthier Here is a nonprofit collaborative dedicated to advancing health equity in King County, WA through collective action. We are committed to building and strengthening an integrated, equitable system of whole-person care that works better for everyone.

The Branches tiles combine sound absorption with fractal patterns inspired by tree canopies. Their cut surfaces echo the way branches naturally repeat and vary in scale. Research by Prof. Taylor shows that mid-range (mid-D) fractals – commonly found in nature – are linked to lower stress levels and more relaxed visual processing. These patterns guide the eyes in a similar way to watching branches move gently in the wind.

By bringing these natural fractal structures into the ceiling, Branches supports both acoustic comfort and a visually calming atmosphere – especially important in spaces dedicated to care, health, and community.
