Accredited CEU: The Classroom as a System of Care: Foundations for Designing Supportive Learning Environments

We are excited to share that on August 20, 2026, Mohawk Group will host a virtual CEU, accredited for AIA and IDCEC, featuring Tracy Cook, Senior Director for Education and Government, presenting the latest insights and contributions to educational design, developed in collaboration with 13&9 Design and Prof. Dr. Richard Taylor of the University of Oregon and Fractals Research.

This course introduces Chapter One of a three part trilogy on designing learning environments that support student well being and equitable access to learning. Focusing on systems level design, the session examines how classroom routines, expectations, and environmental clarity shape predictability, emotional safety, and engagement. Participants will learn the key markers of a “system of care,” including consistent transitions and the reduction of unnecessary stressors.

The course establishes the foundational conditions required for effective sensory responsive design and previews how later chapters will address acoustics, visual organization, and other environmental strategies. Attendees gain a practical framework for evaluating and strengthening classroom systems.
