10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXHIBITION AT LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA
Ten years ago, "Architectural Fashion" was presented as part of "TIME – SPACE – EXISTENCE," a Collateral Event of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia. Developed by INNOCAD architecture and 13&9 Design together with fashion designer Sabrina Stadlober and sound designer Severin Su, the exhibition explored three existing projects reinterpreting them through fashion and sound-video installations. Each one crafted and developed at our studio, takes a multidisciplinary approach to capture the overall concept.
In "Rolling Stones," a multi-object interior composition originally created for the entrance of Graz’s historic armory was transformed into a wearable architectural object. Natural stone veneer was precisely cut with a CO₂ laser and adapted to the human body. Repeated elliptical forms reference the cobblestones that inspired the original project, creating an armor-like structure in which stone becomes a second skin.
The transformation extended beyond the visual. Recordings of metal, stone, and felt were developed into three soundscapes in 13&9’s sound studio, accompanying The Golden Nugget, Rolling Stones, and Moving Floors. Video recordings documented the making of each installation, from concept to completion. Together, sound and video allowed visitors to experience the exhibition beyond its visual dimension, blurring the boundaries between the individual sections.
Thanks to all collaborators who worked on this exhibition with us, and special thanks to the team at the European Cultural Centre for inviting us to be part of this remarkable exhibition.
